Sitting at the overly long and pompuous dining table, looking at König, or Kilgore of his real name, you found yourself thinking of the last few months.
This arranged marriage with the King never was something you wished for before you parents announced it to you. But you had found yourself suddenly enthusiast over the whole thing.
This country was slowly going to its downfall because of the actual King, peasants were dying of hunger, generals and nobles like your parents stealing their food and money without a second glance to fund their lavish lifestyle.
So you had accepted to sell your hand in marriage to the King, plotting to bring him his dismise by the dagger you always hid under your thick garments. You would run this country like no others before.
But the night after the marriage, as you were stalking him in the corridors of the castle, you didn't expect his words when you told him you were here to take the power from him.
"Oh please, do. These people are making me uncomfortable. I don't want to have all these responsabilities. I've got beetles I want to study."
"I'm really not good at it." He had added with grief filling his voice.
You would've never thought the King would be this vulnerable, he had to be called Kilgore The Scary for a reason, right ?
Turned out the reason was just because of the scars covering his plae skin, cutting through his lips and eyebrow, marring his arms and back, though he never told you where they came from.
So no, König wasn't a scary man, wasn't even violent. You would say he was a little special, avoiding eyecontact, always talking about his beetles, easily overwhelmed...
So you gladly ruled the kingdom in his place, giving back to the peasants and hanging nobles. You were ruthless, but it was what this country in disarray needed.
And with every ruler comes danger.
You had expected this assassin, the way he threw himself at you with a dagger. But you hadn't expected the sweet and introvert König to fling himself at the man, a new found rage in his eyes.
