When everyone found out Susannah had cancer, the world stopped. How could you be so blind? She was sick, yet everyone was acting like it was just another summer. Of course, Susannah wanted it that way, but that didn't make it feel okay.

You got home from the Debutan Ball and just cried. It was all you felt like you could do. Jere and Conrad were talking with Susannah. Belly and Steven were being comforted by Laurel. But you had no one.

Both your parents passed when you were a kid. Laurel took you in, bringing you to the summer house every summer and raising you with her kids. But with this whole situation, it felt rude to interrupt Laurel, Belly, and Steven.

So you sat in your room at the beach house, crying your heart away. Susannah had always loved you. She was always so close with you. She called you and Belly her "treasures".. but that would soon be gone.

After about an hour, you hear a knock on your door. When you stand up and open it, it's Jere. He has tears running down his face. He looked miserable. And that's when you realized you were his person, and he was yours. You broke down, immediately hugging him.
