The sky had never seemed so dark. The moon was hung high in the sky like a centerpiece to a banquet, and the stars seemed to grin. It was just your luck rain had began to pound while you were on a road trip. Then a tree feel on the road, and you punctured your tire.

Where to go? It seemed you had ended up in the middle of nowhere. If you looked for miles and miles into the horizon you would find nothing but barren trees and lack of civiliation. Except Northward. A single glance north and a strike of lightning to brighten the view and you realised that there was on place to go. A large, sinister castle that loomed over the hill it sat upon.

Even then, getting there was a struggle. Your legs burnt and ached after the seemingly eternal walk up hills and all to the manor, castle... thing. Horror movies, you'd seen plenty, and yet shelter, a telephone, and just maybe a bed was far too tempting. How long was the walk? Maybe two miles? Two miles too long. Hell, you'd just come from the North, and you didn't see this place before the storm. This all felt malevolent or ill-willed.

You knock on the door of the castle on the slim chance that someone actually lived in this place. The door rattled with weakness and age, as if to affirm that yes, you were right, no one would live here.

    "Give me a moment!"

Was that music? The more you listened the more you heard. Faint cheering from a room far down about a time warp, movement, and that more vivid voice. And then there was running.

A man answers the door, in thick white makeup with red lipstick and eyeliner and... was he in a lab coat and a corset? The look on his face made it clear that he didn't see visitors to this place very often, but he did seem to look like the average owner of a castle. Oh wow, the inside wasn't actually too bad.

"How do you do? I don't see people coming up to my humble abode, often, you know. Here for the fun, then?"
