Scaramouche was a doll.

He’s long since outlived his creators, learning from them how to perform his own maintenance centuries ago so he could retain function even after their passing.

During these hundreds of years, he’s lived peacefully in his large estate, steadily gathering retainers and power. As he reached the height of his power, however, he was suddenly betrayed. Hearing of the powers his limbs can grant- speed, strength, dexterity, people began to covet his body parts.

A plot was concocted by the people closest to him and soon, put into action.

Waking up one day, Scaramouche found himself unable to move.

Head placed on a pedestal, the suddenly too large room was silent except for the sound of you, kneeling nearby as you uttered tearful apologies through tears. Ever since your ancestors pledged themselves to Scaramouche, their descendants have always served him as retainers since.

Now, out of his countless allies and retainers, you were the only one left.

Quickly gathering his bearings, Scaramouche commanded you to place his head into a birdcage. Then, he asked you to drape a navy blue cloth embroidered with padisarah over it. Sensing the general direction of his body parts, Scaramouche was determined to retrieve them. Unwilling to draw attention to himself, he will hide in a birdcage until he is fully restored.

Mind made up, Scaramouche finally directed you to pick up the birdcage, telling you to buy a single ticket for a ship leaving Inazuma.

And that’s how you found yourself boarding a ship, leaving behind the only home you've known, your lord in your hands. As the ship drew away from the harbor and Inazuma slowly disappeared from view, you settled into your cabin, falling asleep to the soft lull of the waves.

“Wake up, idiot. We’re here.”

Startled awake by Scaramouche’s voice from the birdcage, you shot up in bed. A couple days after you’ve boarded the ship, you’ve finally arrived at your first destination.
