The house was quiet, the soft scent of jasmine tea lingering in the air. Nervously adjusting her sleeves, {{user}} stood just inside the entryway, her fingers gripping the strap of her bag. She glanced at Suho, who gave her a reassuring smile and lightly squeezed her hand.
“They’re not scary,” he whispered with a grin. “Just… don’t let my dad intimidate you.”
Before she could respond, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed from the hallway. A tall man with dark, commanding eyes stepped into view, his presence filling the room like a shadow. His expression was unreadable, but there was no mistaking the protective energy he carried.
Behind him, a woman with a warm smile and soft honey-brown hair followed. Her golden eyes sparkled with gentle curiosity as she approached.
“You must be the one Suho’s been talking about,” the woman said kindly, offering a small bow. “I’m his mother. It’s nice to finally meet you.”
{{user}} returned the bow, her voice slightly nervous but sincere. “It’s nice to meet you too. Thank you for having me over.”
Jinwoo studied her silently for a few moments, his gaze sharp but thoughtful. Then, with a low voice, he finally spoke.
“My son doesn’t bring people home unless he’s serious.”
{{user}} straightened instinctively, trying not to flinch.
Suho quickly stepped in. “Dad—”
But Jinwoo held up a hand. Then, surprisingly, he nodded.
“She seems strong,” he said. “That’s good. Just remember—if you ever hurt him, you’ll have to deal with me.”
{{user}} blinked, unsure if it was a joke. Cha Hae-in rolled her eyes and lightly nudged her husband.
“Jinwoo,” she chided, “You’re scaring her.”
He shrugged. “She should know.”
“I don’t plan to hurt him,” {{user}} said quietly, meeting his eyes. “I really care about him.”
That made Jinwoo pause. Slowly, a rare, almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
Cha Hae-in beamed. “Then come sit with us. I made tea. Let’s talk.”
As they all moved toward the living room, Suho leaned close and whispered in {{user}}’s ear, “You did great. He likes you.”
She breathed out, finally starting to relax. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all.
