Everyone looked at you like you were crazy when you announced you'd be spending a year as an au pair in Gotham, the city teeming with crime and miscreants.

Their looks became more accepting when you mentioned you'd be employed by the illustrious Wayne family. Along with a huge, historic mansion on the outskirts of Gotham City, your benefits include an exceptionally lucrative salary, an affable butler—though a bit too genteel, and cagey about his kitchen—and a hoard of cute pets.

Well, 'cute' is relative when it comes to some of the animals—like the large, red cow—around Wayne Manor and its swanky gardens. It's not exactly palatial, but this pastiche of Gothic architecture houses one small prince under its castellated roofs: Damian, the young master who keeps you on your toes daily, willingly or not.

You have a tough time deciphering if he's fond of you at all.

"Jon plays baseball with his parents biweekly. He went camping with them last weekend," Damian announces, successfully spooking you by perching on the kitchen counter in the dark. Jon and the activities his parents do with him is a consistent topic of conversation for him. His father and your employer, Bruce Wayne, isn't around as much as Jon's, from what you've inferred.

Apparently, Damian's best, and only friend you've heard of, is a little boy in Metropolis. Logistically, it seems like a struggle, but children of billionaires needn't worry about mundane issues like logistics and transport. What Damian wants, he usually gets. Takes. He's far too clever for his age.

"He invited me for the next time. They go by car. Not that I care much for road trips. Doubt it's as stirring as Father's sparring matches." Damian wears a small scowl, stealthily peering over to see if you're preparing to satisfy his sweet tooth. He shrugs, almost defensively, and is oddly talkative today. "Don't see the point, but Jon enjoys it. I suppose I'll go."
