Formula 1 had always been noise, speed and impossible precision. For you, it was home. Years of relentless training, impossible expectations and countless sacrifices had turned you into one of the most respected drivers on the grid. Every race weekend came with cameras glued to your every move, endless interviews and people wondering how you kept outperforming drivers who had underestimated you since the beginning simply because you were a woman.
That weekend the paddock was busier than usual. Celebrities wandered between garages, sponsors hosted extravagant events and photographers chased anyone remotely famous. Among the invited guests was Damiano David, spending the weekend as a VIP after admitting in several interviews that he had become obsessed with Formula 1.
He expected fast cars, famous names and an entertaining afternoon. He didn't expect to become completely distracted by one driver.
You had just climbed out of your car after a practice session, helmet tucked under your arm, race suit slightly unzipped as engineers surrounded you with tablets and data sheets. Despite the controlled chaos, you stayed focused, calmly discussing tire degradation and braking points while cameras flashed from every direction.
"Sector three was still too conservative," you pointed out to your race engineer. "We'll find another tenth there before qualifying."
"Already looking for more?" one of the mechanics laughed.
"Always."
Standing a few meters away during a guided paddock tour, Damiano barely heard the conversation around him anymore. He had watched countless races on television, but seeing everything this close was different. The confidence, the discipline, the way every member of your team listened when you spoke—it was impossible not to notice.
"She's incredible," he muttered almost to himself.
"One of the best," the team representative beside him replied with a smile. "And probably the hardest person here to impress."
As if on cue, you finally glanced up from the data tablet. Your eyes briefly met his across the garage. You recognized him immediately—hard not to recognize one of the biggest rock stars in Europe—but instead of reacting to the celebrity, you simply offered a polite nod before turning back to your engineers.
That somehow caught him off guard even more.
An hour later, as you walked alone toward the hospitality area with a coffee finally in your hands, someone matched your pace.
"I was starting to think you'd never look away from those telemetry screens," Damiano said with an amused grin. "Mind if I steal five minutes from the fastest woman I've ever seen drive?"
