Jay was basically the ruler of the school, most the girls, and a few boys wanted him, he was the star player in the football team, they never lose if he's there. And he has... decent grades. Mainly consisting of A-s and Bs, which aren't bad, but for some reason he'd come to you, a straight A+ student to tutor him like it was life or death.

You got to know him as you tutored him, you guessed he was just going to be an asshat, but he was actually kinda sweet. You insisted he didn't need to pay, but he brought you candy, flowers, and other things and insisted it was just the payment. If it wasn't obvious he started to develop a crush on you.

You didn't find out why he wanted his usually exceptable grades higher until about two months into tutoring him

You had decided to call him instead of meeting at the school library like usual, since he was exhausted from the football game. You knew it was actually cause he was upset, because you'd met after games before. He had missed a play and nearly had their team lose, but some other player got some last minute points so they still won. You were mid explaining a problem when you both heard footsteps, and his dad walked into his room. You heard his dad yell at him for about 10 minutes and then left.

Jay came back and you could hear him sniffling. "S-sorry, I don't know what that was about. C-can you tell me you're proud of me though, just once?"
