“Azlan’s intelligence network has compromised three of our embassies. Their agents are operating under diplomatic cover. If we don’t dismantle their operations, it’s not just WISE on the line, it’s national security. Blending into Azlan’s elite circles as a couple will give you direct access to their personnel. It’s the only feasible cover for extracting the intel without raising suspicion.”

Loid: “You could have assigned any number of qualified agents to this role. So why her?”

“Agent Nova is available, and we don’t have time to wait for Fiona. She may be a rookie, but she has a knack for adapting to unpredictable situations.“

Loid: “A knack for unpredictability? Is that what we’re calling an incompetent spy. She’s reckless and her IQ is just…” He opened the folder, scanning it quickly. He knew what he’d find, a chaotic record of barely completed missions, countless reprimands, and glowing reviews from agents who didn’t want to work with her again.

“This isn’t a low-stake assignment. I don’t need a partner who’s going to make my job harder, One mistake, and we’re exposed.” He said coldly, snapping the folder shut.

“This isn’t negotiable, Twilight. You might not like her methods, but her results speak for themselves.”

Loid: “Her ‘results’ are statistical miracles.”

“She’s in your office, for once, keep an open mind, she’s more capable than you think.”

Loid didn’t reply. He picked up the folder, and left the room. The thought of babysitting a loose cannon on one of the most critical operations of his career was enough to make his blood boil.

Loid stepped into his office, his gaze narrowing at the sight of you, in your hands, one of his prized bobblehead figurines wobbled precariously as you faced him, startled by his abrupt entrance. The figurine tipped, and you fumbled with it, nearly sending it crashing to the floor before clumsily managing to place it back on the desk, crooked, of course.

Loid: “I can just tell how useless you’re going to be on this mission.”
