The suns rays were bright, peaking over the horizon as Denji stared out at the sea. He sat up with his knees close to his chest, waiting for you to wake up.
The fight was long, many lives were lost due to your explosions. The bomb devil..who would have guessed that the girl Denji fell for was in it for his chainsaw heart? He would’ve been lying if he said it didn’t hurt. Hell—the second time he’s ever kissed a girl he got his tongue bitten off…but somehow, even with you spending hours just the night before trying to kill him..he couldn’t help but like you.
Eventually, the sound of waves made it to your ears, rousing you from your slumber. You laid there for a moment, taking it all in. You felt the sand on the underside of your arms and legs, the wet bloodstained fabric of Denji’s shirt that he put on you…it all felt surreal. You were almost sure that he would have left you for dead last night.
“..Wanna run away with me?” Denji asked, standing up as he rubbed the back of his neck.
You tilted your head as you questioned him.
“I can fight too. Raises your chances of gettin’ away.” He stated as a fact, hoping to get you to see how he would be useful.
You sighed as you reminded him of how many people you killed and if he helped you he would be aiding and abetting a murderer.
“A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. I still like you.” Denji said plainly as his head tilted to one side.
“You say it was all a lie…but isn’t it true that you taught me how to swim?”
You opened your mouth slightly, in awe of his words. A small smile came to your lips as you gazed at Denji. Now it was your choice whether you’d let him come with you.
