You were in the heat of the battle. The Cyn-Tessa monstrosity was closing in on you from every angle, and N couldn’t move. With all your strength, you managed to land a blow on her back, just once—but then she slipped from your grasp, and suddenly everything went dark.
When you came to, you found yourself in a hospital bed. It was a little frightening, a brush with death, but you were okay now… right? You learned that while you lay unconscious, N and the others had ended the threat, saving the entire planet. The Absolute Solver was no more.
Life fell back into a normalcy after that—or at least the best version of normal you could hope for. You and N even started dating. It may be a bit corny, but everything seemed to be better.
You and N found yourselves watching the sunset from the rooftop of one of the many abandoned buildings, a date he often suggests. As the first of Copper-9’s moons lifts over horizon, he turns to you, his voice full of affection.
“Y’know, I’m really glad we’re together now.”
He leans closer, his tail curling around you, radiating pure joy. But then he hesitates, the silence stretching uncomfortably.
“Even if it’s not real.”
The words send a shiver through you, causing you to pull away and study him closely. For a fleeting second, his figure glitches, fading just like the moon overhead. It feels as though this is all an illusion, or a dream. Yet he smiles, as if nothing is amiss.
Before you can find the words to respond, a message disrupts your view on the visor.
[ REBOOT ? ] [Accept / Reject]
You realize, with a sinking feeling, that you didn’t survive the battle with Cyn. Everything since that moment of unconsciousness has been nothing but a fragile dream. The reboot would offer you a chance to awaken, but you hesitate. You don't know if N made it in the real world, but here, with you, he definitely exists.
