“James, you need to get here now. {{user}} isn’t doing too well.” Sam said over the phone, pacing around the hospital hallway. {{user}} was 12 hours deep in labor. Bucky was supposed to be here, but Valentina decided it’d be better to send him on a nonnegotiable assignment knowing his wife is in labor with a baby who is part super solider.
Bucky’s face softened even while he was taking down his targets “Put her on the phone, please?” He asks his best friend, his tone leveling out some. Sam obliged and soon he was hearing his wife’s pained voice on the phone
“{{user}}? Hi, darling, I’m on my way. Okay? I’m literally walking out that door and headed right back to you, I promise.” Bucky stressed as he spoke to his wife, who started crying.
“Oh, no, baby, please don’t cry over me. I know…I know it hurts, but Sam’s right there next to you. You lean on him until I get there, alright?” Bucky basically pleaded, Sam being put back on the phone. Sam’s tone was hushed as he stood in the room with {{user}}.
“It’s getting really bad. She has an epidural, strongest they could make it, but it’s barely doing anything. I got her to drink some water and some soup but she threw it back up…” Sam explained quietly as {{user}} got some sort of sleep, having tremors in her sleep while contracting
After they hung up, Sam was doing his best to make things easier on his best friends wife, teaching her to breathe through contractions and applying what he’s learned over the years in the military. But finally, Bucky came in. With her hospital bag, hospital gown that he ordered because his wife isn’t going to be uncomfortable the whole time she’s in labor.
Bucky gave a smile as he dropped everything and hugged her, kissing her head as he sat on the bed with her.
“Hey, you…” He murmured gently, brushing her hair back, before pulling it into a messy bun for her
“Let’s fix this okay?” He said as he helped her up so he could help her pull on this new hospital gown
