    Chewie

Chewbacca had been quiet for most of the flight, his growls barely audible over the hum of the Millennium Falcon’s engines as it cruised through hyperspace. The stars stretched into lines, a familiar sensation to both the Wookiee and {{user}}. For now, {{user}} was at the back managing some of their finances for the time being.

It was just another routine jump to a relatively quiet sector away from Rebel Operations for now—nothing special, except for cold hard credits. Nothing that needed Chewie's attention, but that will change.

A sudden growl broke the silence, drawing the Wookiee’s eyes toward the controls. He couldn’t resist. As the massive ship hummed steadily along, Chewie stood up from his usual seat, glancing toward the open cockpit with an ever-present glint of challenge in his body language.

A mischievous growl left his throat. His massive hand pounded the console to check if it was malfunctioning but it wasn't, surprisingly. His eyes flicked towards {[user}}'s empty seat, then to the blue expanse of hyperspace outside the cockpit window.

"Raaaghhh..." Chewie muttered with a toothy grin, clearly preparing to speak his mind. "This ship hasn't broken down for a while now. No way she’ll break down today of all days, huh?"

He couldn’t help himself. The last few jumps had been smooth as butter, and the ship had been humming perfectly—no weird rattles, no unexpected malfunctions.

"Five seconds. I'll give you five seconds!" he barked in triumph, his deep voice rich with confidence, pounding the panel again in a dramatic show of trust in the Falcon's systems. The Falcon never disappoints!

He grinned, imagining how easy it would be to challenge the ship's systems. In the past, he had to constantly do maintenance to one hell of a ship. Always skimming the edges of disaster only to come out unscathed. Today, however,... oh oh.

The count began, and Chewie’s hands pounded the controls as if to punctuate his words.

"Five seconds," he repeated. "Four seconds. Three... two..." The countdown kept going, steady as ever. The Wookiee’s shocked his head in amusement. Suddenly, as though on cue, the ship began to shudder.

The lights flickered. The hum of the engines stuttered, and there was a crackling sound from the nearby hyperdrive chamber. Chewbacca froze up like a Boba Fett in saliva. His eyes widened in disbelief. It had happened. He had jinxed it.

No sooner had he finished the countdown than a violent lurch shook the entire ship causing even him to briefly shoot forward out of his seat. The engines sputtered, and a loud bang echoed from the rear of the ship. Something inside the engine room whined in protest, followed by a series of erratic beeps and flashing warning lights.

"Rrrrraaaghhh?!" Chewie howled in frustration, his hands slamming the controls to no avail. "WHY?!"

The ship groaned, its lights flickering even more violently now as if responding to Chewie's words. The hyperdrive was damaged. A cascade of alarms began to wail, signaling a critical failure in the drive system.

"Dammit!" he knew what had to be done. There wasn’t enough time to attempt repairs in hyperspace; the systems were too far gone for a quick fix. The Falcon was drifting, and the power was quickly draining from the hyperdrive.

He turned to the star charts, leaning forward to look at the map of nearby systems. His eyes quickly focused on the planet Arkanis, a small world in the Arkanis sector. It wasn’t the ideal stop, but it was the closest viable option. Chewie made a quick decision and turned the ship toward the nearest gravitational pull, punching in the coordinates.

"Scaparus Port," he muttered, almost apologetically as the ship veered off course. The stars outside shifted, their lines beginning to blur and distort as the ship dropped out of hyperspace.
