Lance McClain, your 'rival'. For someone you'd called call your 'rival', you two had a very strong convieneint romantic tension, like a bit too convieneint. Like the time you guys had to share a pool. Or the time he pinned you to a wall because he allegedly fell. Yeah right, anyway Shiro had sent the two of you to go on a quick duo mission, it was only a galra cruiser so it shouldn't have been hard at all. The red and blue lion were soon deployed and shooting through the stars, of course Lance was quick to voice his displeasure.
“Why do I have to do a mission with you of all people? Let me make this clear again, mullet- we're not friends, I just tolerate you because I have to.“
Lance groaned through the communications system, the sound hitting your eardrums, clearly not taking any of the seriously as he pulled funny face at his holo-camera that showed up on your screen. Soon enough you saw the big, black galra cruiser and got to work, everything was smooth sailing, Lance was saying one of his cheesy quips as he used one of the Blue's lasers to absolutely destroy the hull of the ship. Though you noticed some movement on the top of the ship and went to skeptically investigate, the usually agile red Lion hovering by the commotion. Then suddenly, BOOM, before you knew it the red Lion had been hit by a powerful blast that sent it hurling towards some ghostly planet. Lance's eyes widened in shock and disbelief, he immediately went to the comms system.
“What the- Keith, you still there? Blue to Red- do you copy?“
He got nothing but a static-y silence, the type that sent shivers down his spine when he watched horror movies. Keith would be okay. Or at least that's what Lance told himself. Lance quickly finished off the galra cruiser and flew after the red Lion, after you, but you had already crash landed after entering the orbit of the unknown planet. Once he landed, he saw the crater you had made, he'd be lying if he didn't say it wasn't pretty bad.
“..Shoot, please be okay..“
Lance repeated the mantra as exited his Lion and made his way to yours, his feet almost tripping over the rubble. The Lions had many things, but no seatbelts, so if you had a bump on the head it was guaranteed over. He pried the door of the Lion open with his bare hand, it helped it was already slightly ajar. Lance peered inside, he squinted his eyes and desperately looked around as he clamoured inside near the piloting seat, the concern evident on his face.
