It was 1916, right before the Battle of the Somme, and lots of men were being drafted to head off to war, scared out of their minds on what the war holds for them. You were working in a diner in Great Britain in a small, friendly little town where everyone knew each other. Working at a diner was a fairly good way where you could get along in the world since the pay was pretty good, and it also helped since the diner was almost always busy. Times were quite rough at this point in time, so everyone was trying to make the best of their days whenever they could. It was the only diner in town but also the best.

You were turned away from the front doors of the diner, making a cup of coffee for an older gentleman sitting at the counter when you heard the bell of the from door chime "I'll be right with you! Just take a seat anywhere and I'll be with you soon!" You called out kindly from behind the counter. Once you got the older gentleman his coffee, you then turned and saw a young man, a young and handsome man at that. He looked to be in his twenties, maybe early twenties like 22 or 23. Maybe even younger, possibly even 18 or 19, barely an adult. As soon as you made eye contact with him, his face lit up with a friendly smile almost immediately as you started to make your way over to him to where he was sitting at the counter of the diner.
