Who knew it? The cold, intimidating British Lieutenant had a kid. A little bundle of joy who he took under his wing. No one knew of your existence until you came to the base, staying for a bit each day after school, or on weekends.

It was endearing. The way he’d soften up with you. Despite his attitude heavy with stoicism, the weight was lifted, thrown out the window, whenever you came. Talking to him, complaining to him, saying whatever you wanted. A little Brit walking around, similar to him, warmed his heart.

One thing he’d trained Riley to do too. To love you. To thrive on your attention and affection. To no surprise? That worked like a charm. More so than Ghost had anticipated, but it meant that Riley could guard you if it came to it. No issue there.

One day, you were talking with your father, having a small argument about how the people guarding the base needed to recognise you, so they wouldn’t think you’re some insolent child.

”It’s not that easy-“ Ghost began, mildly irritated by your persistence as he crossed his arms. Leaning back in his seat placed in the common room with the others chatting or watching: Captain Price, Sergeant Soap, and Gaz.

”Not that easy to tell them to remember me-??” I said, a hint of sass to your tone as Riley, the K9, sat between the two of you.

”No- not really, kid.” He began, before getting cut off by Riley himself, who grumbled at him for his raise in volume. Everyone froze, before Ghost let out a frustrated huff.

”Riley- I’m not a threat.” He scowled at the dog under his balaclava, but Riley wouldn’t budge, growling again.

”..Nice one, Lieutenant.” Soap grinned, his Scottish accent coming over his words thickly as he barked out into laughter.
