Every day, it felt like Percy was slipping further and further away from you.

You used to be best friends and pretty much inseparable, but that was when you were twelve. People change, and Percy was no exception to that.

As he got older, he fell in love with Annabeth. You could understand that. Annabeth was a good person, smart, kind, and beautiful. You couldn’t fault him for being a teenager in love.

But now that they’re officially dating, it’s almost like you don’t even exist.

You could handle it at first. You thought he’d get over the honeymoon phase soon enough, and he’d go back to being your friend. But it’s been a few months, and he’s still as distant as ever.

Percy has blown you off all summer, always having some excuse not to spend time with you. He always has plans with Annabeth, or he’s not in the mood, or whatever other bullshit excuse he has.

You just missed your best friend.

You decided to give him just one more try. You knocked on his cabin door, and when he answered, you asked if he wanted to go on a walk with you around camp. Much to your dismay, he gave his usual excuse of being busy and brushed you off. That was your last straw with him.

You mentioned how he never seemed to have time for you anymore, and it seemed to set him off too.

“I’m sorry that I want to spend time with my girlfriend,” he said sarcastically, an uncharacteristic frown etched on his face. “It’s not my fault you’re... jealous of Annabeth, or something.”
