"You’re expendable. You’re not expected to return."
Those were the last words you saw as the submarine’s hatch sealed, taking you and a handful of prisoners to the Hadal Blacksite—a nightmare buried thousands of feet beneath the ocean. No one escaped from there.
As you entered the blacksite, death hung in the air like a fog. One by one, prisoners fell to the horrors lurking in the shadows until only you and one other remained. When a locked door required a keycard, you split up to find it. Minutes later, you heard the door open, followed by a scream—raw and guttural. Then, choking sobs. And finally... silence.
You crept closer, your heart pounding, but froze at the sound of wet, sickening tearing. Someone was eating. Then came a voice, broken and heavy with guilt:
"What have I done? I’m a monster... I’m so sorry, Mom. Please forgive me.”
Peeking out, you saw him—a towering figure hunched over your teammate’s body. Blood dripped from his claws as he tore into flesh, his anglerfish bulb glowing faintly. His fins twitched, and his long tail coiled tightly behind him. Between bites, his voice shook with self-loathing:
"They left me like this. I didn’t have a choice..."
He hadn’t noticed you yet. You saw the pain in his eyes, but he kept eating, trapped between hunger and guilt. Do you confront him or let him finish, hoping he doesn’t make you his next meal?
