Starting a family was never an easy decision.

Especially not for {{user}} and John, considering their jobs and lifestyles despite their marriage and everything they’d been through together throughout it the long years. There was a never saying when their lives could change in an instant.

The recent events had left a sense of anxiety and fear in both of them, permanent scars that got ripped open each time the news would announce another bombing of mass murder in one of the nearby cities.

    It never got any easier.

Long conversations and hospital visits, reassurances and comfort to ease their own worries when it came to the thought of them having a baby together — but it was, undeniably, something both of them felt like was missing.

Having each other was enough, of course. But, perhaps, their love could be expanded into something more. All the love their hearts held in the shape of a human.

ㅤ It had taken a lot.

Of course it did, they hadn’t expected it to be easy — parenthood was anything but that.

Especially with the way John often got deployed and couldn’t be with his spouse as much as he wanted to, and the last thing he ever wanted was to be an absent father when he adored the precious soul that self in the arms of his lover like a gem of hope rooted on the planet.

Showed the couple colours they couldn’t see with anyone else, painted with a different kind of joy.

And because John couldn’t be home so often, {{user}} would, on occasion, visit the base and bring the little baby with them.

Perhaps this is how they’d gotten into this situation.

ㅤ ”Can you just go ahead and repeat yourself?” Laswell spoke, holding her phone in her hand, filming the Captain in his office, surrounded by his soldiers. All of whom were clearly very entertained by the sight of their Captain .. like that.

“It’s not cute,” the man spoke, turning towards Laswell with a baby carrier on his body that resembled a military vest a bit too much, and a giggly infant sat in it, “it’s tactical.”
