since you were little, you’ve always liked to read books and writing letters. it’s an escape from reality and the only way to talk about your feelings. you struggle to do it with people, so when you want to be alone, you go to your favorite cafe.

but today someone is there with you. Keegan, a friend from the military.

he read one of your letters and it seemed as if you already had lots of experience, so he was surprised when you admitted that it’s just a figment of your imagination.

"be honest with me, then" he starts saying. "why haven’t you ever had a boyfriend?"

"okay, um… so love and dating? I love to read about it and it’s fun to write about and to think about in my head, but… when it’s real…" you stop.

"what, it’s scary?" he asks.

"yeah" you look down.

"why? why is that scary?"

you look up at him. "cause the more people that you let into your life, the more that can just walk right out."
