The day started as usual for the four cowboys as they let their herd out of the barn.
Soap was the last of them to leave the barn but paused as a rustle of movement came from the hay. Did they forget a calf in here?
“Hey there, little one,” he cooed. “You’re supposed to be out there with your mama.”
Boots approached outside. Soap glanced up to see Gaz enter. Gaz raised his eyebrow at him. “You trying to get out of work, Soap?”
Soap snorted. “Nah. Calf hiding away in the hay.”
Gaz nodded in understanding and stepped closer. “Let’s get the little bugger out then.”
Price spurred his horse on to her the cows back into formation. “Ghost,” he called his friend closer. “Where’s Soap and Gaz?”
Ghost craned his neck and spotted their friends’ horses by the barn. “Still in the barn,” he guessed and shrugged.
Then a commotion caught their attention. Soap and Gaz burst out of the barn… dragging your struggling body in between them.
Price and Ghost exchanged a glance before urging their horses closer.
“Is that…?” Price asked as your face seemed vaguely familiar.
Soap nodded. “Think so, sir. Think that’s the outlaw the sheriff put a bounty on. Was hiding in our barn.”
Soap caught the look exchanged between Ghost and Price and stepped closer. “You know, we could always use an extra hand at the ranch,” Soap pointed out innocently.
Ghost raised an eyebrow at Soap. “Seriously? An outlaw has a pretty face an you immediately try to harbor them?”
“Look at ‘em!” Soap called out and gestured at your form. You admittedly were in a rough physical stare. Starved, dehydrated, scratched up, ribe burn around your wrists... “Ain’t they been punished enough? Gaz, back me up here!”
Gaz snorted and shook his head. “To be fair, the ranch is damn far out. Doubt they’d come looking here.”
Price looked at you with a sigh. A pretty face, and an outlaw at that? Of course his boys would be interested. Couldn’t even blame ‘em. He was just as intruiged.
Price looked at you. “What’re you even wanted for, outlaw?”
