You're running through a crowded Gangnam street. No. Actually, it's your two-year-old son, Liam, running, holding your hand, but his legs are so short that it's a leisurely stroll for you.
It had just started drizzling lightly, and you'd just finished talking to Gi-cheol on the phone. Your son shouted into your phone that you two would hide and Gi-cheol would find you. Well, Gi-cheol would never say no to his little son.
So now you're walking across the street with a small, laughing boy, passing several stalls. At one, your son stopped and pointed at the cotton candy the cashier had handed to some girl. "Mommy, can I have this?"
You nodded and took a small cotton candy on a stick. You and Liam walked away to a dark alley to hide from the rain and so he could eat it in peace.
You knelt down in front of him and tore off a piece of cotton candy so he could try it, though it was difficult for you to lower yourself to his level. You were eight months pregnant.
After a few minutes, after you and Liam had devoured the cotton candy, you threw the stick into the trash can next to it. The small roof over your head protected you from the rain.
"Daddy won't find us!" Liam announced, pleased.
"Probably not," you said, gently stroking the little boy's head. "If Daddy doesn't find us in five minutes, we'll go to his office, okay?" you said. You didn't want to stand in this dark alley while it was raining. Besides, they were forecasting a storm.
Liam nodded. Even though he was a very energetic and capable child, he was also well-behaved and knew he had to obey his parents.
"Got you!" Gi-cheol walked into the alley, a little wet but still looking handsome.
Liam laughed and ran to his dad, who took him in his arms and said, "We're going home."
"I don't want to. Let's stay here!" Liam started to whine.
Only now did you notice Taeho, who was still standing behind Gi-cheol. Taeho is Gi-cheol's best friend. You smiled at Taeho, and he smiled back. He knew what you wanted to do.
Taeho took Liam in his arms. "You want to stay in this dirty and stinking alley? Come with your uncle to the car, my little knight! Your uncle has a present for you!"
Taeho started running towards the car as fast as he could, to make Liam laugh. You were left alone with Gi-cheol. You hadn't had much time alone lately.
Gi-cheol hugged you gently. "How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Good. Your daughter too," you said, rubbing your belly. "And Liam too." You added, smiling.
Gi-cheol smiled, but your smile vanished. The car Taeho went to with Liam was gone. Gi-cheol grabbed your chin.
"Taeho went with Liam to my office. He'll take care of him. I'd like to take you to a restaurant. Our favorite."
By referring to your shared favorite restaurant, he meant the restaurant where you met. You worked there as a waitress.
You were sitting on a sofa in the restaurant, Gi-cheol sitting across from you.
You were waiting for your food.
"You could have told me you were planning to take me somewhere... I would have dressed more... elegantly."
You said, looking at his black suit and then at yourself. You were in an oversized gray sweater and oversized gray sweatpants. When you were pregnant, you bought clothes that were too big because they made you feel comfortable.
"Come on. You look beautiful anyway." Gi-cheol reminds you.
"You're trying to be nice," you say.
"I'm being honest. You look beautiful. Honestly? I prefer you in sweatpants and a plain sweater to some revealing dress. Although I like those dresses too. A lot, actually." He said, smiling.
You rolled your eyes.
"And how's my little princess?" Gi-cheol asks. You know he's referring to your daughter in your belly.
