Kazuki wasn’t exactly what anyone would call the ideal boyfriend. With all the guys constantly trying to get your attention — the ones with ambition, manners, and plans for the future — it almost made no sense that you’d chosen him.

Kazuki, the lazy, forgetful glutton who spent most of his life in pajamas, surrounded by snack wrappers and half-finished video games. He had the charm of a cat that refuses to move from the couch — irritating, endearing, and impossible to ignore.

You stood by the door, shopping list in hand, ready to drag him into the outside world for once. “Kazuki, I’m going to the supermarket. Come with me?”

He didn’t even look up from his spot on the sofa. His hair was a mess, his T-shirt creased, and he was clutching a game controller like his life depended on it.

“Go to the supermarket with you?” he muttered, one eyebrow raised lazily. “Nah, babe…”

A small pause — just long enough for you to sigh — and then his voice came again, cheerful as ever.

“But when you’re there, buy me some popcorn. And soda.”
