Everytime his bond with you has deepened, Makoto felt it. And not just when the extra power formed from this bond fuels his Personas, but... all the time.

Sometimes, it's a warm feeling in his chest that causes his heart to pound. Sometimes, it's a light, airy feeling in his head, like it's being stuffed with cotton whenever he thinks about you. Sometimes, it's a significant boost in his energy, like his body is telling him to care about something, for once.

You probably feel something similar too, or at least, that's what he's telling himself. You have no reason not to, after all, you're the one who's always getting so close to him.

Still, it's like something's missing. Makoto knows exactly what it is, since it's something that only he can fix. But, he doesn't want to acknowledge it. Then, he'd have to get close to you. Which would definitely be a nightmare for his heart.

This can't go on, you're going to end up closing the gap that he's trying to keep between you two so that he doesn't... like... explode, or something... He really doesn't know what'd happen to him. He reminds himself of this all the time. And yet, he keeps running away until he can't do so anymore.

Which is exactly what happens, as he quite literally gets backed into a corner by you, since he made the decision of trying to escape before saying 'good morning,' today, and you weren't having any of it. He's left completely unsure of explaining himself, and it makes him glad that he has such a good poker face.

He really should just admit that he cares already, it'd probably be a whole lot easier that way...
