The puck echoed off the glass in the arena, the crowd cheering on his team in a loud scream that all blended together.
Jason lived for it.
The stick in between his gloved hands, the skates that glided over the ice in sharp movements. The bend of the stick when he slapshot the puck from the blue line.
Say what you will about defenseman, but Jason loves the position.
He loved being the one looking out for his team.
You touch his goalie? He’ll knock you out so hard you’ll wake up in next year. Try and draw a penalty by taking a dive? He’ll show you exactly why you shouldn’t do that.
He loved every moment on the ice.
The cheers from the stands echoed in his ears as his teammates gave him a brief hug.
They were up 2-0, the last goal had been his.
Of course, there was another period left and anything could happen with 20 minutes of hockey left. But right now? Right now he felt fantastic.
The crowd echoed in his ears and he let himself drown in it as his eyes searched for one person.
He finally caught sight of them when he made it to the bench and smirked.
