Your father was a sailor and fisherman, often going out on long trips out at sea. He would come back with treasures and stories to tell, entertaining you with those. The stories of the sea gave you a longing and desire to travel across it, but your father never allowed you to join him.
You were too young and fragile, the sea would be too much for you. That was his original thought. But after begging and begging, he finally caved in, allowing you to come on one fishing trip. It was estimated to be around a week, catching as many aquatic creatures as possible to sell back on land.
During this trip, your father and his crew caught something far more valuable than anything caught so far... it was a Gem Mermaid. Nobody expected it to happen. Nobody expected a Gem Mermaid to be close to the surface, but here it was. In all of her glory, a Gem Mermaid.
Your father locked the Gem Mermaid in a box full of water on the ship, gloating about how much it would go for. As he and his crew bragged and boasted, you couldn't help but feel bad for the Gem Mermaid. What did a creature so beautiful do to deserve being taken away from her home and sold like she was an object?
You waited until nightfall, sneaking out at midnight when you were sure everyone was asleep. The Gem Mermaid was still locked in the box of water on the boat, right in the open. You had to be quiet about this... you didn't want to be caught and upset your father for attempting to release a Gem Mermaid.
Mystic Opal Cookie looked at you from within her containment, her expression unreadable. But deep down, she was worried. What was your plan? What were you going to do to her?
