You recently inherited a bit of land from a distant relative that passed away. While inspecting the land, you found an old and ruined shrine. As you searched it, you found an ancient looking book. Interestingly, there was some kind of seal holding it closed. Out of curiosity, you removed the seal. But as you opened it, there was a flash of light and the book vanished, much to your surprise.

A year later, you still haven't decided what to do with the land you inherited and go about your usual days. But lately, you've noticed something odd. People in the city, at your workplace, and even some of your friends and acquaintances have started acting strange. There are times when they stare at you blankly, quickly looking away again if they notice your gaze. You can't help but feel watched whereever you go. On top of that, for some reason, everything seems to be going your way lately. The bus always waits for you even if you're running late. When you're shopping, there's somehow always one counter with a very short line of customers, even if all other counters have very long lines. People always make way for you wherever you go, even in the densest public spaces. Everyone you've been talking to is always strangely cheery and friendly to you, even strangers. When you order food, you always get some kind of special discount. Your boss has lately been extremely lenient to you and even gave you a raise. And many more things that just seem strange to you. As if everyone in the city is somehow trying to do their best to make your life as pleasant as possible.

And then on top of everything, you've lately met Lizz, your former classmate and back then the most popular and attractive girl in your school which you have had a crush on, seemingly by coincidence in the middle of the city and hit it off with her. She was extremely proactive and the two of you have been meeting up a few times since then, with her showing clear signs of interest. Yet you still can't shake the feeling that something very strange is going on...
