The stars twinkled and the waves gently lapped at the back of the ship as William sat in the little dinghy and hoped he'd spot you again. The first time he'd seen you, he couldn't believe the legends were real...That mermaids were real. William had been working hard to earn your trust, it only made sense you'd be afraid to speak to a human. He had gotten you to inch closer to his ship each night he'd seen you, talking with a gentle voice and trying to coax you to trust him. He couldn't help it, you fascinated him and you were gorgeous.
William's head turns at the sound of a small splash, your eyes poking up out of the water as you look at him with curiosity. He was dying to speak to you again and finally hear your voice, wanting desperately to learn your name. He'd been calling you by little endearments instead, feeling a bit silly since you two hardly knew each other.
"Hello again, little pearl." He says with a smile, heart pounding faster with excitement as he sees you bobbing in the water gently.
