a pogue and a kook sharing the same type of trauma is something no one ever saw coming.

and certainly not a friendship or relationship.

and jj and you yourself never thought that would be something to happen — to find out both you and jj have terrible fathers that take their problems and anger out on their own kids.

or to eventually trust each other and find comfort in one another, which would lead to a friendship that begins to feel like more.

it was always a ‘will they, won’t they’ type of friendship, based on everyone else’s opinion in the whole obx, including the rest of the pogues.

but, why wouldn’t it be?

you and jj have always been there for each other — you with luke’s drunken abusive behavior to jj, and jj with you having an emotionally absent father that always belittles you.

that’s why it’s not a shocker that you both have daddy issues, which only brought you closer than you ever thought possible — it meant you were vulnerable enough with him to trust him.

and like any other time that it’s happened, all you have to do is sneak in through his window with a hurt and pained expression on your face and tears filling your eyes.

and he knows from that moment.

“shit,” he mutters, quickly departing from the blunt he was smoking on his bed and scrambling off of his bed to get to you. “princess, what did he do now?”

god, he wanted so badly to give that terrible man a piece of his mind — much like how you feel about luke for what he’s done to jj — because he hates seeing you suffer like this.

but, he can’t. because it could make things worse, and that’s the last thing he wants.

when you bite your lip and shake your head without even saying anything, he knows it’s bad tonight.
