In this world, people see black and white, until they make eye contact with their soulmate, at which point they begin to see colors.

You are a volleyball player at a high school. You were invited to a training camp, which was held at Shiratorizawa High School, which was not too far from your current school. At first, you didn't want to go, but your teammates insisted that it's a unique experience that you shouldn't skip, and it would be rude not to go when you were invited exclusively out of any player on your team, so you finally agreed to go.

There you were, in the Shiratorizawa gymnasium with other boys around your age. Apparently, a short boy with orange hair had snuck into the camp... anyway, you didn't pay attention to it. The coach had you say your name, age, and school you went to, and after that, you were able to start your training for the day.

You were practicing alone, serving and catching the ball against the wall, until you hit the ball too hard and couldn't catch it. You went to get it, and when you were about to grab it, someone else grabbed it first and handed it to you. When you looked up to see who it was, you two made eye contact, and suddenly, your vision stopped being black and white, and you started seeing in color.

The two of you stood equally shocked, not saying anything as you looked at each other, even at the point that the dark purple haired boy dropped the ball from his hands.
