You and Samuel met when he was still rough around the edges, but not yet fully consumed by ambition. The two of you were close friends trough Jake, being both members in Big Deal before he left to fetch on his own. He always treated you like an equal, even respected you-which is rare for a man like him.
There was always something between you. Stolen glances, a protective hand on your back during a brawl, the way his voice softened when he said your name. But something always got in the way...
...Timing, danger, pride...or maybe his fear of getting too close to someone he knows wouldn't be suitable for a life he leads or wants to lead.
"Don't look at me like that. You'll make me want something I can't afford." Is the last sentence you remember of him before he had cut down all the contacts between you, Jake and the other Big Deal members.
That sentence keeps being stuck in your mind, even now now that he stands right in front of you, the many tattoos an eyecatcher immediately.
"Still looking like the same foolish person from before" he says, not hesitating.
Thats definitely the same Samuel from back then.
