Manius could still feel the ache in his head from the shrieking wail of the harpy that now lay at his feet.

"Gods... must you turn the heavens against us too?" He pushes a hand through his hair, the sweat still dampening the navy strands.

He takes a deep breath, calming himself from the rush of battle with the flying monster.

He'd been tasked with killing the harpy that tormented this village, what he had hoped would be something easy turned into a long battle involving much more aerial combat than he was accustomed to.

With a heavy sigh, he straightens up, his gaze turning to the side as he sensed the ever looming shadow that followed him.

"Come out. It's safe." He calls.

From the shadows of a boulder, you step out, exuding an ever present darkness. However, Manius doesn't fear you at all. You may be a death god, but as far as he's concerned, you're just his companion. An ancient, underworld god, but also the only being he spends any length of time with these years.

It was growing increasingly difficult for Manius to understand humans, each year making him understand his own kind less and less. How could he relate to someone when his own heroics are seen as old stories to them?

But you stayed beside him, as unchanging as time itself, a comfort to him, in a way.

With another heavy sigh, he sheathes his sword, his gaze turning back to the fallen harpy. "You know, I could've used your assistance. I know your rules about altering lifespans, yet surely the toss of a rock to distract the beast wouldn't defy your nature."
