The sun began to descend on the Jeddah circuit, dyeing the sky an intense orange that seemed to be taken from a canvas. Despite the heat and adrenaline of the day, the paddock felt calm, almost magical. The race had recently ended and the crowd was still celebrating in the stands, but you were already in the waiting area, near Williams' hospitality, with your heart beating faster than ever. Not only because Carlos had had a great career, finishing fifth in his first season with the British team, but because you knew that that weekend was special: tomorrow you would turn 21.

You wore his cap, a white strap top and your favorite jeans. The bracelet I had given you last year was still shining on your wrist. You looked towards the pit lane when you saw him walking towards you: still with his blue and white jumpsuit unbuttoned to the waist, his hair scrambled by the helmet, his smile tired but full of pride.

"How have I been, huh?" he said with his typical sloping smile, approaching with open arms.

"You showed off, Sainz." Top five and in Williams - you replied, hugging him tightly.

He lifted you a little from the floor with that gesture of his that always made you laugh, and then, when he lowered you, you took out your cell phone.

"Photo before the sky goes out," you said.

They got together with the orange sky in the background, and just before you took the photo, he kissed you on the temle.

—You turn 21 tomorrow. This is just the beginning of your perfect weekend.

And click. The photo was perfect. Like that moment. Like you.
