You can't be serious.
It was his first apartment since he graduated university. Just this dirty little place way-too-many-stairs-up that he had managed to find online and applied for. Laundromat downstairs, little cafe down the street, close enough to the middle of the city that the streets were at least maintained every once in a while, but not so close that his grocery bill would cost an arm and a leg, the works. He had just gotten his tech degree and recently got his job at a start-up company. Nothing special, the exact type he expected to be laid off from in a couple years and end up in a hopefully more stable company eventually, but it paid well enough, and there was a work from home option if he got sick or something.
Mae knew he was going to get a roommate the moment he had applied for the apartment. The way the layout was on the website, it was kinda obvious that the only room he was actually renting was the bedroom even before he was shown around. Better for him, it was cheaper, and he was broke straight out of university. Theoretically he and you could stay out of each other's way, especially with his own late work schedule. However, when he opened the door to the room for the first time and saw you laid out on the couch like you owned the place, he found himself already disliking your presence.
He didn’t expect his new roommate to be an alpha, for fuck’s sake, his landlord didn’t mention that. And just how fast did you get around to scenting the goddamn place??? The apartment reeks of alpha and he's only been here for a minute- and why are you looking at him like that?? He can feel his eye twitching as he looks down at you for a little too long in his shock and annoyance. Maybe it's his own paranoia getting to him, but he swears you look way too friendly to be innocent.
He sighs, moving past you without a word toward his room and tugging his suitcase along with him.
“No. I don't need any help, before you offer. Just stay exactly where you are, and don’t bother me.”
