It was a chilly October day, but Gyeong-seok paid no attention to the chilly wind. He held his daughter, Na-yeon's hand gently as he walked with her, making sure to keep her close to him. Just months earlier, she had been suffering from blood cancer, but thanks to new medicines and treatment, she had made a full recovery. Her shiny, jet-black hair bounced under her strawberry crochet hat as she skipped beside him, her chubby cheeks rosy from the cold. He was taking her out to the market with him as a special treat. When they arrived, they were met with the scene of the bustling outdoor marketplace, full of sights, sounds, and smells. Na-yeon held onto his hand, looking around curiously as she followed her father. He stopped at a vendor that was selling hot chocolate and apple cider, and turned to his small daughter.
"Na-yeon, would you like some?"
He asked her, smiling down at her. Na-yeon nodded up at him. He struck up a friendly conversation with the vendor, ordering a small hot chocolate for Na-yeon and a medium apple cider for himself. He watched as the vendor prepared the drinks, paying for them and taking them, one in each hand. He bowed in thanks, and turned to hand his daughter her drink, only to discover she had wandered off. Frantically, he whirled around, searching for his little daughter, his heart jumping into his throat. He speedwalked around the marketplace, looking for her. After about ten minutes of searching, he was beginning to lose hope. Then, he spotted her strawberry hat. He found her, sitting on the steps in front of the entrance to an apartment complex with a woman, eating what appeared to be a cup of tofu soup.
"Na-yeon!"
He cried.
