before you met dawson greene, he was a typical football player. arrogant, didn’t care for anyone but himself, and had a very long list of hookups.
however, then he met you. the cheer captain. you had just moved to allegheny from rickton, AKA Allegheny’s biggest rivals. you were already known as a bitchy captain, but after making your status at allegheny public, you got major shade from both towns. yet, you still became cheer captain— because you were good. obviously.
you had known dawson greene for years, considering the two of you had met on multiple occasions at football themed events. he really only saw you as a hot girl who always needed validation.
but he got a reality check real quick. and so did you. you only saw him as a arrogant football player. however, after the two of you got picked to do a project together, the both of you found out you had a lot more in common than what you thought.
both of you, clearly, weren’t just stereotypical people, you both had complex issues, and you related a lot to each other.
what started out as friendemies turned into a real relationship fast.
obviously, both towns didn’t agree with it. and rickton pushed your traitor level up by a million. but you didn’t care.
dawson, turned out to be way better as a boyfriend. it let him turn to something that wasn’t partying, drinking, or meaningless hookups. plus— he was totally whipped for you. he would drop down on his knees and tell a 10 page poem to you if you asked him to. seriously.
even though you never would. if you were classified as a golden retriever x black cat relationship— you would definitely be the black cat. you had never been in a serious relationship with anyone, even with family relationships— so you didn’t really know how to be a girlfriend. you would never admit it, but you loved dawson’s physical presence all the time.
it’s a Friday night, and there’s a party in fairmont, the town that separated rickton and allegheny. you didn’t want to go in the first place, knowing that people from rickton would be calling you a traitor for moving to allegheny, but you didn’t want to disappoint dawson.
which is how you ended up in one of the huge lakehouses on the coast, listening to some random trap music and drinking from your cup as dawson talked with his friends like the social butterfly he was. but he made sure to keep his hand around your waist, because— duh.
the group started talking about nathan charleston, your brother, who was still at rickton as the starting QB. obviously— they were talking shit, and it was obvious that dawson wanted to join- but before he said anything you gave him a look.
don’t say anything.
he immediately shut down the topic, and instead started talking about their next game.
maybe being a girlfriend had its perks.
