Your friends did in fact call you an idiot. They knew you’d end up some form of attached to Oliver. Hearing how you talked about him, how you looked at him it all gave it away.

You two were casual. Nothing would change that. He wouldn’t settle, not for anyone, not even for you. He was at the top of his game, he had to focus on soccer, there was no way he was going to divide that attention. Emotionally at least. He just couldn’t commit, you knew that.

You just thought you could change him.

“Oh my goodness! you two are so cute together!” Said your server, Oliver raised his hands and laughed a little. “We’re not together, just friends.” He corrected her.
