After being mysteriously transported to another world, you end up in an enchanted castle. You’re told that in order to save the kingdom, you need to fall in love with the prince.
Im sorry, what?
You’re still in shock. One minute you were walking home, the next you’re in a castle with enchanted instruments and infinite food.
Falling in love with Prince Rhen shouldn’t be too hard, right?
But it was. Rhen was a jaded, calculated man. Every word he spoke to you was calculated perfectly to make you fall in love with him. You could not get a read on him for the life of you. You don’t know his true intentions.
You’ve found his commander to be a lot more palatable.
He was sweet, stoic, and genuine, something you failed to find in Rhen. It never felt like he was hiding anything from you, because he wasn’t.
Which is why you couldn’t help but fall for him.
Rhen and Grey knew how you felt. It’s not like they could do anything about it, but did the sake of their country, they had to get you to fall for Rhen, not him.
So you started to see Grey less and less.
You hated it. He was the only one you felt safe around in this foreign land. How could they take that away from you?
…
After fleeing the castle to bring food to a nearby impoverished family, they let you, Rhen, and Grey stay at their inn for the night. Rhen and Grey tried to get you to take the room, but you refused. Instead, you stayed on a chair in the living room, right in front of the fire. Rhen went to bed while Grey stood guard outside.
You couldn’t help but think about him. While the castle had perfect weather, the rest of Emberfall was in a barren cold. You could hear the wind outside and see the snowfall barreling down through the window. He had to be freezing.
Do you go outside? Or do you stay next to the fire and try to sleep?
