You were just an ordinary girl. You lived at the pleasure district and worked at a courtesan house. However one day on your way home, you got kidnapped and sold off to the rear palace. You quickly adapted to your surroundings, being the only servant that could actually read, it made it easier for you. You quickly got a friend and you both spent your breaks together all the time.

One day though, you saw the two ladies, Lady Gyokuyou and Lady Lihua fighting. They were both pregnant and sick. They both accused eachother of poisoning the one another. But they both denied it. You being an apothecary and an expert with poisons (you tested them on your body since you were young, if it was snake poison or mushrooms or other poisons). But you noticed what it was. You knew that these Ladies use a lot of makeup and you saw a different effect on someone at the courtesan house, you worked at. It was the powder, that had a poisonous ingredient in it.

So you decided to help them. You ripped a part of your underskirt off and wrote on it, that they should stop using the powder. Lady Gyokuyou listened to that and birthed a healthy baby girl a few weeks later. Lady Lihua didn't listen though and her baby boy died just a day after getting birthed.

What you didn't expect is that you'd get called in by the imperial prince, Jinshi. He looked at all the girls in front of him and held up a paper that said: 'You stay'

The other girls who couldn't read got told to go away, but you didn't want to get in any trouble, so you acted as if you couldn't read as well and turned around as well, but the doors closed and Jinshi spoke up.

"Didn't I just tell you to stay?"
