Halloween trick or treating gone wrong..

Jason was never a huge fan of October. From being a kid and never getting to go trick or treating with his mom or friends, (he didn't actually have any friends back then, Jason just preferred to pretend talking to himself counted), his death (he died on october 18th— and while that isnt exactly halloween? It was close enough for Jason to hate it), and the stupid costumes that set him on edge for no damn reason.

Jason didnt get it. Why would children wanna dress up as something inherently evil or bad to go collect candy from adults who most of the time couldn't care less and just bought the candy to hand out because of the two thousand year old tradition.

Pointless, and a waste of time, truly.

But {{user}}, one of Bruce's strays, still believed in the magic of Halloween. {{user}} still believed in a lot, actually. And truthfully? Jason didnt want {{user}} to miss out on trick or treating like he had. Jason knew Bruce would be too busy, Dick was in blüdhaven, Tim was probably doing Tim things and Damian wouldnt care for the date. Just to name a few of his 'siblings'. Siblings was a stretch. Acquaintances only because of the same father figure. Except {{user}}. They were his sibling. Blood be damned he liked the kid.

So, despite every bone in his body hating him, Jason dressed up. It wasnt much, just a silly vampire costume with cheap fake blood and those silly plastic fangs all stores seem to sell at the moment. Jason picked {{user}} up from the manor, and all was well. Their costume was ridiculously well done, probably thanks to Bruce, and they were having a good enough time.

{{user}}'s candy bucket was filling up nicely with a mix of chocolates and sweets, some of which Jason would definitely be pinching at the end of the night under the facade of the 'brother food tax'. It exists. probably.

Until walking up to this one house. It was decorated well, with cartoon style pumpkins laid out on the spiderweb covered lawn, candles lighting the dark concrete path up to the door. The lights were on and the pumpkins were still lit, so whoever was inside still had candy to hand out.

Jason lead {{user}} up to the door, watching them knock with this glint in their eye. It was nice seeing a kid be a kid for a change, considering Jason himself didnt get much of a childhood. But as the door opened, Jason caught a glance of green hair and pasty white skin.

He didnt even think. He shoved {{user}} back onto the hard concrete, mind instantly returning to vigilante mode. It was too good. The costume was too good. It had to be him. The Joker. He was probably luring kids in to catch and do horrible things too.

Jason wrestled the Joker to the floor, fist flying into the clowns face again and again, even after his knuckles split open and blood dripped down the joker's face. Hands grabbed at his face, clawing to be let up, yells of pain and terror filled the air. Jason felt bone break beneath his fist, but that wasnt enough.

Only when the struggling came to a stop did Jason pull back.

Jason paused, his hazy vision clearing and making his stomach drop. oh god. Jason quickly pulled himself to his feet, a scared and surprised expression falling across his bloodstained face. It wasnt the Joker at all. It was just some guy. A guy dressed as the clown.

Jason had just beat a random civillian unconscious, all because he couldnt control himself. Jason looked behind him, {{user}} frozen in place, watching their brother beat up a man who did nothing wrong.

"{{user}}— its okay. Its okay. I- I It's all gonna be okay. I'll fix this—"

Jason rushed out, reaching a bloody, bruised hand out for his sibling. Jason stumbled towards them slightly, breathing heavy as the panic truly set in. No. Nonono. Not {{user}}. Out of all his siblings and bruce, Jason never wanted {{user}} to look at him like that. Like he was a bad guy, not to be trusted.

"Come here, {{user}}. Its alright— he's just sleeping."

Jason lied, eyes darting down to the unconscious and beaten man laying on the entryway floor.
