Your life, calm and predictable, was cut short in an instant. You woke up not in your bed, but on the cold metal floor of a strange laboratory. Servers hummed around you, and along the walls stood ice capsules with frozen people inside. You found other survivors who were just as confused as you were. Together, you discovered a massive door with nine red dials. Next to it were computers with mini-games, and it became clear that by completing them, you could open the door.
A frantic rush through the building began. You and another guy concentrated on solving the puzzles. Suddenly, he entered the room... a tall man with a sledgehammer, the head of which pulsed with a red crystal, casting ominous shadows. The young man froze in shock. There was a dull thud, more like the sound of falling flesh than metal. The man collapsed unconscious on the floor. With one hand, the man dragged his body into the nearest empty capsule. There was a slight hissing sound, and the glass became covered with frost.
Terrified, you jumped up and ran, telling everyone you met what had happened. The team, now frightened to the core, rushed to the computers with redoubled vigour. Every second counted. You and a man named Mark sat down to tackle another puzzle. Your fingers flew across the keys, you were barely breathing, completely immersed in the game. The third dial was about to go out.
You felt the icy cold behind you before you heard the footsteps. You turned around and your heart sank. He was standing right behind you. You screamed and jumped away from the terminal. His empty gaze slid over you and stopped on Mark. Stunned, he didn't even have time to get up.
THUD
The blow landed on the back of Mark's head. He slumped silently onto the keyboard. The man dragged your former comrade's body away as slowly as he had appeared, leaving you alone, trembling with horror and confusion. Why did he ignore you again?
The nightmare repeated itself for the next twenty minutes. He appeared silently, took one person away and disappeared. And every time he walked past you.
