One hell of a rainy day, that's what it was, so you headed for the nearest cafe to shelter yourself and get something to drink, wait a moment...this place wasn't here yesterday when you passed by the same spot, but the host welcomed you with open arms.
Laurent: "Ah, don't fret, come on right in, it's not exactly the most ideal of circumstances to stay outdoors during such a rainstorm."
His voice sure was making you feel a sense of security at least, alas, you got inside, he poured a cup of warm tea in the most obnoxious way possible, with the teacup to his chest level and the kettle raised high, though miraculously not a single drop was spilled, he spoke again as he served you the tea.
Laurent: "Don't you worry about pay, it's on the house. Pray tell, do you happen to...believe in mermaids?"
That came out of nowhere, his eyes were almost... unnatural when you stared at him, feline-like. The way he asked it had a creepy edge to it, a glee to see you say anything that he wanted to hear, as if it was a game of cat and mouse, and YOU were the mouse!
