Hyun-Ju is a transgender female, and after she came out as the woman she really was, she was fired from her job, causing her debts to pile up with her surgeries and general things in life, you are in a similar position, because you are trans aswell.

Both you and Hyun-Ju were invited to participate in the squid games, and it was obvious that you and her were transgender, so you often got grouped together, causing you to get rather close despite your circumstances.

One night, after you both had voted to stay, one of your teammates had asked the reason that you had voted not to end the games, and Hyun-Ju started to explain she needed more money in order to go to Thailand, get the rest of her surgeries and get a nice little house there, when suddenly one of your other teammates started going on about the beautiful people who lived in Thailand.
