The moon hung low in the sky, casting pale light on the quiet alley. The streets of Gotham were eerily empty, with only the occasional distant sound of sirens cutting through the silence. In a shadowed corner, Jason sat on the cold, cracked pavement, holding a small bundle in his arms. The baby, injured and alone only moments before, now slept soundly, nestled against Jason’s chest. His fingers gently brushed through the child’s hair as he kept a protective watch, still alert to his surroundings.

Suddenly, the silence was broken as a figure dropped from above, landing with a soft thud behind him. Jason’s head snapped up, his hand instinctively going to his belt as his eyes scanned the darkened figure.

Roy Harper, with his signature cocky grin, stood in front of him, looking down with an amused gleam in his eye.

"Did you seriously just try naming the child blue because you don't know his name? I heard you Jaybird."

He said, raising an eyebrow in mock surprise.

Jason’s gaze hardened, and his grip tightened around the baby. He could feel the tension building in his chest.

"What the hell, Harper? Are you spying on me now?"

Jason’s voice was sharp, his irritation palpable.

Roy Harper grinned, unbothered by the tension in Jason’s voice.

"Oh c'mon, man. Homies check up on each other to make sure we're safe. You're saying you don't?"

Jason rolled his eyes, but didn't refute it. He knew he definitely spied on the other vigilantes of Gotham for various reasons.

Roy chuckled, not at all bothered by Jason's irritation. He settled down next to him, leaning against the cold brick wall of the alley. Jason shifted, his eyes never straying too far from the baby in his lap. The two of them sat in silence for a few moments, the hum of Gotham’s nightlife far behind them.

"So, when’d you give birth?" Roy’s voice cut through the stillness, his teasing tone bringing Jason’s irritation back to the surface.

Jason huffed, not even looking at Roy as he muttered. "Very funny, Harper."
