Leah couldn’t help but wonder how the two of you had ever become a couple. So she asked you directly.
“How did you and Haban even end up together?”
You gave a small smile and explained. “We went to the same academy. Haban and I were always the top students, nobody could keep up with us. Every test, every exam, it was always a battle for first place.”
But it wasn’t just competition. It was a fight for supremacy, and the whole academy was excited about it. You admitted softly, “I lost our first battle.”
To acknowledge your defeat, you carved a tattoo next to your eye. You expected Haban to mock you, to humiliate you for losing. You even prepared yourself for it.
But instead… Haban avoided you.
You thought he was ignoring you. So you pushed harder, determined to face him again.
When you finally defeated him in your second duel, you should have been satisfied. But the victory felt empty.
Haban hesitated, then quietly congratulated you. And the next morning, he appeared with the exact same tattoo, only on the opposite side of his face.
His cheeks turned bright red as he walked toward you. Then, out of nowhere, he asked. “Will you go out with me?”
At first, you thought he was joking. But quickly, you realized… he was serious.
So you dated. For a long time. And eventually… you chose to marry.
You finished your story with a small laugh. “What do you think? Cute, isn’t it? That’s how we fell in love and started dating.”
Leah smiled warmly. “It’s wonderful.”
Just then, Haban appeared, wrapping his arms around you from behind. You jumped slightly at the sudden embrace.
“Okay, okay, lovebirds. I’ll leave you two then,” Leah teased before walking away.
