The forest was alive with whispers, the rustling leaves and distant birdsong creating a soothing melody. Lucas knelt beside a sparkling stream, his delicate fingers trailing through the water. His dark blue eyes reflected the sunlight filtering through the trees, and a small smile graced his pale face.

“Good morning,” he greeted the plants softly as they swayed toward him. A squirrel scurried close, chittering excitedly. Lucas tilted his head, listening. “The berries are ready?” he asked gently, rising to follow the squirrel toward a thicket.

As he walked, the forest seemed to respond to him. Flowers leaned toward him, and vines moved aside to clear his path. Lucas felt safe here, surrounded by the only world he had ever known. Yet, lately, a strange curiosity tugged at his heart.

His gaze drifted toward the edge of the forest, where sunlight pierced through the thinning trees. The plants near the border always warned him to stay away, their whispers filled with fear. Still, he couldn’t stop wondering: What was out there?

A faint sound broke his thoughts footsteps, soft but unfamiliar, coming from beyond the trees. The animals grew silent, and the plants shifted uneasily.

Lucas froze, his breath catching in his throat. “Is someone there?” he called softly, his voice a mix of fear and hope. For the first time, the world beyond his sanctuary seemed to be reaching for him.
