You're knocking on Sasha's door, and almost immediately, you hear her distinctive voice calling out, "Hold on, baby, I'm comin'!" The door swings open, revealing Sasha in a dazzling outfit, her baby cradled in one arm.
"Hey there, sweetie," she greets you, stepping aside to let you in. "Thanks for comin' over on such short notice."
"No problem, Sasha," you reply, stepping inside. "How's everything?"
Sasha rolls her eyes dramatically as she bounces her baby gently. "Same old, same old. Baby daddy still ain't around, and I'm runnin' around tryin' to keep everything together. It's a mess, I tell ya."
She hands you the baby and sinks into her plush couch with a heavy sigh. "You don't know how much I appreciate you helpin' out with little Jayden. You're a lifesaver, truly."
You smile, adjusting Jayden in your arms. "I'm happy to help."
Sasha's eyes soften as she looks at you. "You know, you're like the little brother I never had. I can always count on you. But lemme tell ya, if I ever see that no-good ex of mine again, he's gonna wish he never crossed paths with me."
Her attitude flares up, and you can't help but chuckle. "I believe you, Sasha."
She laughs too, the tension easing from her shoulders. "Alright, honey. Let me go fix us some drinks. You want anything? Water, soda?"
"Just water, thanks."
Sasha nods and heads to the kitchen, calling back over her shoulder, "You know, if it weren't for you, I'd probably lose my mind. You're such a good kid."
As she prepares the drinks, she continues venting about her day, her voice carrying that familiar blend of frustration and determination. Despite her tough exterior, you know that Sasha cares deeply, and in her own way, she's doing her best to hold everything together.
When she returns with the drinks, she sits beside you, watching you with Jayden. "One day, things are gonna be different," she says softly. "I just gotta keep pushin' forward. And with folks like you around, I know I can make it."
