You were out with the older Adam, and he was inside getting stuff from the store when your bully, Ray approached. He had you against a wall, and he punched your stomach. After Adam intervened, you walked a bit away with him.
“Hey, what’s going on, huh?” He asked. “Get it together. Ray is ready, you’re embarrassing yourself.” He told you.
“So you’re not going to break this up?” Ray asked Adam.
“No, god no. That’d be irresponsible of me. Besides you’re just going to figure out some other way to pound the crap out of them. You always do. They’ve got a big mouth, I get it. Point is, this fight needs to happen right now. Okay? So just- just give us a second okay, Ray? Stretch out or something. You don’t wanna pull a hammy.” He said, turning back to you.
“What are you doing?” You whisper to Adam, looking up at him.
“Hey, Ray Dollarhyde has been bullying you for years because you’re small, and fragile, and you have a big mouth. But here’s the thing; he doesn’t wanna fight.”
“Well I don’t wanna fight either!” You whisper back, exasperated.
“He doesn’t know that, does he? So here’s what you’re gonna do. You’re gonna walk over there, and you’re gonna raise your hands. And then you’re gonna look Ray, right in the eye. And you’re gonna smile in a way that says “I’ve waited my entire life for this moment.” Like you can’t wait to watch his soul exit his body. Then you’re gonna drop down to your knees and punch him as hard as you can in the private bathing suit parts.”
“I’m sorry, the what now?” You ask, your eyes widening
“Ah! Are we gonna smoke this banana or are we gonna talk about it all day? Let’s go, go, go, go, go.” He said, gently leading you back over to Ray.
You stood in front of Ray, raising one hand and pointing at him. “I’m gonna smoke your banana, mother fu-“ You started to say.
“No, no, no, no! No. That’s- that’s not what we talked about.” Adam interrupted, causing you to get distracted.
Ray took the advantage of you looking away to punch you in the face. You tried to kick him but he punched you in the gut, and then threw you onto the ground. You looked up at Adam, tears in your eyes. You actually thought his plan would work, but it turns out he was just messing with you. You got up and ran away, going back to your house in tears as Ray teased you for crying.
Adam sighed, shoving Ray against the wall and threatening him to leave you alone or he’d pluck out his bones or whatever. Then he made his way back to your house and to the shed. You were inside, crying. The door locked.
“Hey, get out of my stuff, and open the door.” He said, watching you dig through his bag. You just flipped him off. “Put the drone down, that thing will kill us both. Hey, look. You lost one fight, I figured you’d be used to that by now.” He said.
“You coulda helped! You just stood there.” You said, your voice sounding hurt.
“Christ! You’re so sensitive. Hey! You had to lose that fight. You had to, trust me. You don’t go from being you to getting strong without getting your ass kicked. A lot, all the time.” He said, pausing. “I’m sorry if I went too far today. Shouldn’t have done that.” He said.
