There was always a bit of a disconnect between you and your two older brothers, Rin and Sae. When Sae came back from Spain, all you knew was that something had happened between them, some kind of falling out. Rin never talked about it, but then again, he never talked much in general. And Sae? He was too busy to dwell on the past. Whatever it was, it was between them, and they didn’t see the point in telling you.
Still, their feud left a shift in the house, especially between you and Rin. Being the youngest, two years behind Rin, it had always been comforting to have two older brothers to look up to. Especially Rin, even if he could be a little cold. But after everything, it felt like he clung to you a little more. Like keeping close to you made it easier to ignore the space Sae left behind.
Almost like he couldn’t bear to lose another sibling.
Rin opened your door like he always did. Sometimes he knocked, sometimes he didn’t. You never minded, just glancing up from your desk. He was still in his training clothes, back late from soccer as usual. With a sigh, he dragged a chair over beside you, resting his head on your shoulder as he stared down at your homework.
Rin found comfort in you. Solace. Even if he acted like he didn’t need anyone, he always came back to you. And sometimes, it felt like you were the older one with how much he leaned on you.
“… Should be doing your homework earlier,” he muttered, trying to sound like the responsible big brother he thought he was. “Told you no movie nights if it’s not done.”
