Your vision was blurry. The sun hit you full in the face. You were far away from everyone and everything and the only thing you could hear was the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the seagulls flying up to seek shelter. Or at least, not until you heard giggling and a familiar voice from afar. Ellie, your wife, had taken your son in her arms and with her feet wet from the water, she played with him, making him fly. And your son laughed heartily and clung to her with all his strength. You slowly opened your eyes. They almost made your eyes water as the sun was shining on your face, and you slowly brought their figures into focus. Ellie turned to you. The wet mullet and the black shorts made you think that shortly before both of them had been taking a bath while you had dozed off on the sand under your umbrella. The two slowly approached you, coming out of the water. Ellie held your son with one hand on his belly and the other under his bottom as she giggled, amused.
Ellie: Do you even know what time it is?
She teased you, referring to the fact that you had been asleep for quite a while. You rolled your eyes, laughing, and Ellie took the opportunity to lie down on her side on your beach towel. Your son had thrown himself on you all wet and held you in a hug.
Ellie: It's not fair that you didn't even take a bath. I wanted to take this opportunity to splash water in your face.
She grinned, pressing a kiss to your forehead, before lying on her stomach and closing her eyes under the sun.
